Overview — Warsaw Road Swing Bridge

The Warsaw Road Swing Bridge crosses the Trent Canal near KM 146, between the Peterborough Lift Lock (Lock 21) and Nassau Mills Lock (Lock 22). At 5 ft closed clearance, it must open for all cruising vessels. This bridge sits at a critical chokepoint — a guard gate immediately upstream protects the engineering marvel of the Peterborough Lift Lock.

🧤 Captain’s Bridge Notes

If you've just come through the Peterborough Lift Lock heading toward Lakefield, do NOT stop between the lift lock and the guard gate upstream of this bridge. Continue through until you're past the guard gate. The overhead cable here is only 27 ft — the lowest cable clearance in the Peterborough section.

Waterway Context

The Peterborough Lift Lock (Lock 21) is one of only two hydraulic lift locks on the TSW and one of the highest in the world, lifting boats 65 ft. The section between Locks 21 and 22 passes through a narrow, concrete-walled channel (45 ft wide, 6 ft deep) at Nassau.
