Overview — Lakeshore Road Swing Bridge

The Lakeshore Road Swing Bridge is the last swing bridge before Lake Simcoe, located near the canal entrance to the lake. At 10 ft closed clearance, smaller powerboats and some houseboats may be able to pass under without opening. This bridge marks the transition from the canal section to the open waters of Lake Simcoe.

Located near the Lake Simcoe entrance to the Trent Canal, between Gamebridge Lock (Lock 41) and Lake Simcoe. Two fixed bridges between Gamebridge Lock and Lake Simcoe have 22 ft clearance.

🧤 Captain’s Bridge Notes

At 10 ft closed, this bridge is passable for some vessels without opening — know your air draft. Beyond this bridge, Lake Simcoe opens up — be prepared for open-water conditions. Sudden storms are frequent on Lake Simcoe and every seamanlike precaution should be observed, especially in small craft.

Sand bar near KM 290.6 extends from NW shore close SW of Talbot River — marked by buoy (not charted). Two fixed bridges in this section with 22 ft clearance.

Gamebridge Lock (Lock 41) has a lift of 10 ft and is the last lock before the Lake Simcoe crossing. Trent Talbot Marina on the Talbot River nearby has depths of 3-7 ft with full services.
