The Hastings Swing Bridge sits close west of Lock 18 in the village of Hastings, about 22 km upstream of Healey Falls. At 5 ft closed clearance, it must open for all cruising vessels. Hastings is a small farm supply and resort village with full services close to the lock.

Located close west of Hastings Lock (Lock 18) on the north side of the river at the village of Hastings. The lock has a lift of 9 ft.
Hastings Village Marina on the south shore upstream of the lock has floating finger wharves with depths up to 8 ft, power, water, pump-out, showers, and a launching ramp. The marina monitors VHF Channel 68. All village amenities are within walking distance of the lock.
Overhead power cable crossing the lock: 40 ft (12.2 m). Overhead power cables between KM 83-84: 47 ft and 50 ft (14.3 and 15.2 m). Rock awash close south of channel off Preston Island near KM 80.
Hastings marks the point where the river widens and leads to Rice Lake, 9.6 km further upstream. A conspicuous green water tower north of the lock entrance is a good landmark.
