Heagles Island offers a convenient river anchorage between Locks 6 and 7 on the Trent River. With 10+ feet of water around the island, it provides a solid alternative when the lock walls are occupied.
Depart the channel to starboard just opposite green T43 and find 10+ feet around Heagles Island. Mind the rocky spot between red T46 and T48. If weeds are prolific, continue farther upstream to red T56 and depart to starboard for cleaner bottom.

Nearest provisioning: Frankford — ~6 km south. Post Office, pharmacy, bank, grocery, restaurants.
Scenic notes: Pleasant river setting with island scenery.
Not glamorous, but functional. The real appeal is the silence after the locks shut down for the evening — no speed zone means no traffic, and the river goes completely quiet. Watch for the rocky patch between T46 and T48 on approach. Weeds vary by season — if you're dragging weed beard, move upstream to the T56 area.
Personal observation: I have passed Heagles Island many times and have never once seen a vessel anchored here. In my opinion, weed growth in this area has been significant every time I have passed through — more than enough to make anchoring a frustrating exercise for most cruising boats. Worth knowing before you commit to the detour.
Rocky spot between red T46 and T48 — approach with caution. If weeds prolific, go farther up to red T56 and depart to starboard.
