Ox Point is a popular local anchorage in the eastern Bay of Quinte with 15 ft of depth over sand and grass bottom. Holding is good. This is an open-water anchorage exposed to the southwest, meaning the full fetch of the bay can reach you from that direction. It works well in north, east, or light conditions but is not the place to be when a southwest blow comes through. Sailors coming from the Kingston or Prince Edward County area use this as cruising grounds for quiet weekends on the hook.

Nearest provisioning: Trenton is approximately 20 km west with full provisioning. Closer options may exist in Deseronto or smaller communities along the bay, but Trenton remains the most reliable resupply point for TSW-bound boats.
Scenic notes: Open bay views with the rolling shoreline of Prince Edward County and the north shore visible. Pleasant but typical Bay of Quinte scenery — low wooded shoreline and farmland. Sunsets over the bay to the west can be striking.
Ox Point is in the eastern Bay of Quinte, well east of Trenton and the TSW entrance. Lock 1 at Trenton is approximately 20 km west and lifts 1.5 m (5 ft). This area is popular with sailors from Kingston and Prince Edward County rather than boats transiting the waterway.

With 15 ft of depth and sand/grass bottom, setting a hook here is straightforward. Give your anchor time to dig through the grass layer into the sand beneath. The exposure to the southwest is the main consideration — check the forecast before committing to an overnight stay. If a southwest wind builds, Sandy Cove approximately 1 km to the southeast offers protection from that direction. This is deep water for the Bay of Quinte so scope calculations are generous.
Southwest exposure is the primary concern — seas can build quickly with the long fetch across the bay. Grass closer to shore may foul your anchor if you drag. Monitor your position if conditions change.
