Two anchorage options exist near the Ranney Falls flight locks (Locks 11-12). The first is a small bay containing the launch ramp near Hagues Reach Lock, with charted depths of approximately 9 feet. The second is the river channel extending several hundred feet up toward the falls below the flight lock — a lovely secluded anchorage.
Both spots require vigilance regarding current, particularly if water level adjustments are being made at the dam above.

Nearest provisioning: Campbellford — ~3 km downstream. Full provisioning.
Scenic notes: Secluded spot near Ranney Gorge. Short walk to Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge and Ferris Provincial Park.
The anchorage below the falls is one of those spots that rewards boaters willing to monitor conditions. When the current is calm, it's genuinely beautiful — secluded river setting with the gorge walls rising on both sides. But current can change without warning when dam operations shift, so set your anchor properly and keep an eye on it.
The walk to the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge is absolutely worth it. The 12-ton erratic boulder nearby is over a billion years old.
CURRENT WARNING: Anticipate current especially during dam operations at Ranney Falls. Recent upgrades at generating station allow more efficient water passing — even experienced boaters should take additional precautions.
