Overview — Little Bob Channel

Little Bob Channel is one of the best-protected anchorages in the Bobcaygeon area. Tucked into the narrow channel east of the low road bridge, you get all-around wind and wake protection from the tree-lined banks on both sides. Depths range from 7 to 12 feet with good holding. This is the kind of spot where you can sleep soundly regardless of what the weather does overnight. Anchor east of the bridge — the 6-foot vertical clearance means most boats cannot pass under it.

🧤 Captain’s Anchorage Notes

Enter from Pigeon Lake via Big Bob Channel heading west toward Bobcaygeon. The anchorage is in the cove east of marker C373, before the low road bridge. Do not attempt to pass under the bridge — vertical clearance is only 6 feet. Depths are 7 to 12 feet throughout the anchorage area with good holding. Lock 32 at Bobcaygeon is approximately 1 km further west beyond the bridge. This is a quiet, well-sheltered overnight stop with room for several boats.

§8

⚠️ Hazards & Warnings

The low road bridge (6-foot vertical clearance) is the primary hazard to be aware of. Do not attempt to pass under it unless your vessel has less than 6 feet of air draft. Anchor well east of the bridge. Channel traffic between Pigeon Lake and Bobcaygeon passes through here, so anchor to one side and show an anchor light at night.

Seasonal: Usable throughout the navigation season. The all-around protection makes this a reliable stop in any weather. In peak summer, this channel sees steady traffic between Pigeon Lake and Bobcaygeon — expect some boat wakes during the day, though the narrow channel keeps speeds down. Quiets down completely after sunset.
